The year is 1998 and I am a senior in High School, and instead of going to school on a daily bases I stayed home leveling my characters up. It got so ridiculous that I would make all my characters thieves and when it got to a scenario battle they would be so strong I would just pick away and steal pieces of there armor before killing the enemies on the battle field. For me this is the best tactics type game I have played. Another added bonus was that Cloud from Final Fantasy Seven was a bonus character if you could find him. The Playstation one had a lot of great games on it and this is just one of the many. – Kris Kozlowski
Along with having a large roster of classes, including the coveted “Dark Knight”, Final Fantasy Tactics boasted a board game setup of fighting that turned off some gamers but appealed to many others. Being one of the first Final Fantasies to host Chocobos that actually fought, I was most impressed with that and the animation they placed into the tiny sprites, especially during the story sequences. The only problem Tactics had was being released after Final Fantasy 7, which is one game int he series whose Honeymoon period will never die. Due to this, the developers placed an out-of-place Cloud Strife within the world, available to people willing to go through extra work to earn him.
Final Fantasy Tactics had the elements of the standard RPG games – Pheonix Downs, X-potions, an assortment of weapons and armor, and of course Summons. Although I found the character’s lack of noses (SNARK!) and the story to be a bit hard to follow, it was still a fun title to play and is now available for the PSP. – Greg Dragon
