Dragon Age Origins fever continues on the internet as we round the corner to the demo game and the eventual release in March. As with all things wonderful, many people are going to want in on the hype and gamers who think that they “own” the franchise will have a negative reaction to more exposure. The latest news from USA Today is that the famous creator of The GuildFelicia Day will be making and starring in an online series based in the world of Dragon Age: Origins called Dragon Age: Redemption. Felicia plans on playing Tallis an elven assassin (think a femme Zevran)  who fights dirty… sounds a bit like Bard class red-head Leiliana to me… Felicia says: “Tallis is headstrong, she fights dirty, and she has a really sarcastic sense of humor”

Which sounds (if you follow The Guild) to be Felicia playing dress-up since she’s always sarcastic, opinionated and I guess the dirty fighting is the only difference from characters we’ve seen her play in the past. While I am not drooling over Felicia like a specific corner of the internet is doing (she’s pretty well put together though), I don’t get the hate that I am reading in some of the commentary on sites like Kotaku (big surprise there).

A Dragon Age web series? Of course this has been met with mixed feelings from nerds web-wide who as a rule hate anything that involves an attractive actor/actress and their adopted passion (the game). Comments lamenting the fact that Felicia has fanbois, that she’s a nerd, that she has a sense of humor and speculation as to how much this will suck is completely unwarranted but mouth breathers don’t care. I for one, as a one of the biggest fans of the series expect a lot from Felicia Day because as an RPG gamer and an actual nerd (unlike Olivia Munn), I know that she looks for and will produce what we are looking for in a series like this one.

There has been one image shown of Tallis in her hood and it shows that Felicia not only looks the part but gives hope that the cast of other characters will also. Let’s stay positive and embrace everything Dragon Age as we await the glorious launch date for the sequel.

It’s the same issue when it comes to good looking women being into this stuff, guys just think its way too good to be true. Felicia’s “nerd-cred” is tried, trued and proven 100 times over and just because she isn’t unattractive does not make her a figment of your imagination. Based on The Guild, her roles in various Sci-Fi shows, Cheetos commercials and the fact that she tweets nerd all day long, I am going to say that Felicia is the genuine article that will do our beloved game series justice.

We will be following, reviewing and keeping you posted on Felicia’s web series it as it comes along here at 3GK, so stay tuned and don’t let the haters sway you stray.
