Two types of girls play MMORPGs: The attention whore who soaks up all the nerd love that she can handle knowing that us losers will never be able to touch her warm, smooth skin and the regular girl who only wants to have fun without the sexual lusting. This article is about the latter.
I remember that day when the little elven maiden followed me around for 3 hours to escape her stalker. She had her AFK (Away from Keyboard) tag up and was talking to me in the world chat so that she could ignore her tells. Her goal was to appear “out of game” to someone and I could only imagine what her chat was looking like.
Stalking An Elf
“Mind if I hunt with you Raf?” She asked and I was happy to have her along, Cela was a cool girl and could hold her own in pvp. What I found odd however was that she was max level, the mobs were scared of her and she should’ve been trolling some high-end raid instance somewhere instead of kicking it with a newb. Her addiction love for the game however kept her in the world and on our server but her guildmate couldn’t take a hint and was crushing on her really hard. While this happens a lot, especially when a guy hears a girl’s sweet voice on vent or sees her picture, like life it would be nice if they respected her rejection versus going crazy with the stalker texting. Right? This is why many attractive girls stay completely in character and out of raids – a loser hears a voice and it’s game over.
Taking it to the Extreme
One day a girl that I ran with often in-game got on vent to help in a raid where we were short some dps.
Me: “hey guys this is Rini”
Rini: “hi everyone”…
Oh boy, she had a musical voice with a bit of a Japanese accent – I realized my mistake all too late. Mid-raid one asshole starts in with the “konichiwa” and proceeds to drop dreadful nerd “game” on Rini. It was so brutally bad (I think dude was drunk) that I face-palmed and shot her an apology tell as she fended him off politely for the next hour or so… It…was…brutal! I didn’t see Rini online much after that. She wrote me later telling me that dude would not stop pursuing her and that she had changed servers in order to start over in peace. Good thing he never saw Rini’s real life picture… girl was FINE! But the voice was enough to send him into maximum spaz mode.
Guys we need to do better, this is a plea from MMO nerd to MMO nerd, stop stalking chicks off of the game. If you need pointers on scamming on MMO hotties then I’ll divulge the secrets (but that’s another article) – I can tell you that stalking isn’t part of the methodology that works. You’re allowed to be socially awkward but you’re not allowed to be a douchebag. Play nice boys and stop making us all look like losers.
