What is The Assault’s Job?
Assault is essentially the medic on the battlefield. With the defibulator equipped, Assault class can revive dead opponents with the skull emblem above their corpse to prevent the loss of a ticket, and get that soldier back on the field quicker than the standard respawn. Each Revive is 100 points. Revive someone in your squad you get a 10% bonus to that. After every 5 revives, Assaults receive a Medical Efficiency Ribbon, which is worth 200 XP.
So during a match how does one rack up a nice balance of kills and revives? Always run with a group. By providing suppressive fire (shooting at enemies behind cover or out in the open), killing enemies, kill assists, dropping medic packs (20 points per heal), and reviving. It is easy to get a couple thousand points every round on the ground.
Here is a big tip to remember when running Assault on BF3. A kill will net you 200 XP, but a revive will net you 100XP. It is a lot easier to revive than it is to kill an enemy. With killing enemies you have take into consideration the distance, your weapon, your ammo, his/her weapon, and their ammo, their dodge ability, and your accuracy. Now that is a lot to take into consideration versus your defib and a corpse on the ground. Even the time it takes to kill an enemy with 100% health takes longer to dispatch versus jump-starting your squad mate who decided to be a bullet sponge or eat a grenade.
So the next time you decide to pick up that F2000 or FAMAS remember, don’t just be a run and gun grunt, become more. Become the almighty desired Combat Medic, and let your buddies return home to their families. Their spouses will thank you.
