A gem of yesteryear, Alisia Dragoon is one of the greatest action games ever to have graced the Genesis. You are a sorceress named Alisia, who has the ability to conjure lightning to kill your foes. But what made this game unique was the ability to call out pets to aid you in battle. As the game progressed you would find power ups to level up your pets and lightning ability. My favorite pet I dubbed the “Thunder Turkey” which looked like a big flying bird that made the screen flash, damaging enemies and negating enemy projectiles. Finding the right pet for the job added to the strategy in the game. This was before Pokemon so take that Ash and Pikuchu! Graphically the game was beautiful to look at for it’s time, with vibrant colors and effects. Sound was equally impressive with a musical score that you will never forget. Although the game is rather easy, you get rated at the end of the game which added replayability. If you can find this game in a flea market or on an emulator I would definitely recommend it!
