Tekken The Movie – All Kinds of Fail

Tekken The Movie – All Kinds of Fail
Tekken marks yet another movie in an extremely long line of badly portrayed video game adaptations. You would think that with all the blaring examples of what not to do when making a video game movie, these newer titles would get it right. Tekken annoyed me, from the ugly character actors, to the cheesy Tekken City and the choice of characters to lead the story. I hate to keep bringing up Mortal Kombat as a positive example, but when you have movies...

Resident Evil: Afterlife wasn’t so bad

Resident Evil: Afterlife wasn’t so bad
Resident Evil Afterlife picks up where the last one ended with Alice taking the fight to the Umbrella Corporation, complete with her newly discovered Jedi powers. I will admit that I only went to see this movie to see the big zombie’s axe spiral at me in threeeeeee deeeeeee but by the time the credits came up at the end I was actually excited for the next installment. Here’s the thing gamers, for those of you who have played and beaten Resident...

Charlie Bartlett (2007)

Charlie Bartlett (2007)
A young socially-awkward, rich kid, with a history of school expulsions, attends public school for the first time, where he seeks out popularity by becoming his school’s underground psychiatrist. Summary: Charlie Bartlett is an honest attempt at an homage of the perfect high school comedy we always set our expectations high for. Sadly, Charlie fails at this attempt and becomes just another muddled mess of clichés and jaded high school...

Futurama’s Beast with a Billion Backs

Futurama’s Beast with a Billion Backs
A Future for Futurama: Long after the hit show, Futurama, was canceled- its memory still rang in the minds of fans everywhere. Hearing this ring- Matt Groening took it upon himself to revive this glorious franchise as Seth McFarlane has done before him. Thanks to the popular reissuing of television on DVD format- Futurama received this new form of distribution and gave fans a chance to voice their longings for more episodes. After Bender’s...

National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets

National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets
If you were a fan of the original movie, then you know what to expect – adventure , intrigue, conspiracy theories and Diane Kruger.  Did I mention the beautiful Diane Kruger?  National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets takes all of these elements and kicks it up a notch.  Ed Harris joins the fray as Mitch Wilkinson, rival treasure hunter to Ben Gates.  It is quite interesting as these two try to solve the same mysteries using totally different...

Be Kind Rewind (2008)

Be Kind Rewind (2008)
Summary: Be Kind Rewind, though often obnoxiously unfocused, promises a nice blend of comedic flavor with subtle ingenuity- and delivers. Synopsis: In the small town of Passiac, New Jersey, the aging and dilapidated city inches ever closer to the brink of total inner-city ruin. When a proposal comes forth to build a strip of modern condominiums in the stead of the local lower-income video store, Mr. Fletcher (Glover) gets an ultimatum: restore...

Hellboy 2 Enthusiasm- Aptly Deserved?

Hellboy 2 Enthusiasm- Aptly Deserved?
Recently enjoying myself at a coworker’s graduation party- I found myself serving as bartender yet again for this social outing. Making my umpteenth mojito for the night, I couldn’t help but overhear a conversation regarding the upcoming summer film schedule. Truly a weakness for such a film fanatic as myself, I slowly eased my way into the conversation so that I may pry into a layman’s interests- perhaps laywoman as she was...

DvD Review: One Missed Call

DvD Review: One Missed Call
If I had to compare One Missed Call to another movie, it would have to be the hilarious comedy SuperBad. I know what your thinking, how could I compare a horror movie to a comedy? It’s easy my friend, on one hand you have a movie like SuperBad, a movie that takes the context of the word “Bad” to mean something really good. And then you have One Missed Call, a movie that is just Superbad, and I don’t mean that in a good way....
