The Worst Fans Of The Fighting Game Scene
I will preface this by saying that there are many good, well-meaning guys (and gals) in the fighting game community but there is one overbearing attitude that I wish would change… when we look at fighting game fans online they seem to be the worst fans of anything based on the way they treat their pros.
If you are unfamiliar with this scene I will say that if you are a pro with massive accolades the kids who look up to...
EVO 2012 – A Showcase of Class And Community
Evolution 2012 World Championship has just ended in Las Vegas and man what a great showing this year. For those that are unfamiliar, EVO is one of the largest fighting game tournaments in the World. Players from different regions compete against one another in a no holds barred match using muscle memory, wit, and complete skills.
Some of the games featured this year were Super Street Fighter 4 AE 2012, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom...
Notes From Daigo Umehara’s New Book
Last Monday Japanese gaming site Famitsu posted part-1 of an interview with legendary fighting gamer Daigo “The Beast” Umehara. The interview was specifically about Daigo’s new book “Willpower to Keep Winning” and additionally a few things about the author himself. For anyone who has competed in fighting games or have had the privilege of watching any of the footage, you know that Daigo is seen as a mysterious, god of...
Why Are We Still Changing Our Joypad Settings!?
Dear fighting game developers, I would like to thank you first and foremost for continuing to provide gens for a tiny genre in the grand landscape of gaming. Although I play fighting games extensively and periodically check out the guys grinding them out at a higher level, I would like to ask for one more thing that would help us home players greatly. We need in-game profiles with unique Joypad configurations.
Here is why:

My 3 Favorite Matches of EVO 2011
I haven’t been online for a week or so but I am going to wager that after the disappointing defeat of Daigo’s Yun by Poongko’s god-tier Seth, I will not be seeing as many clone twins as I did prior to EVO. I’m just saying, don’t be mad at me, the finals had two old schoolers in Fei Long and dat bish Crimson Viper squaring off – who would have guessed! And while it wasn’t the most exciting...
Luckily For Sony I Do Not Miss PSN At All
It’s been a while since I poked around the Playstation Store looking for an excuse to burn my well-earned coin, and I haven’t logged into Playstation Home since a year back when some “chick” avatar tried to solicit sex from me. These days the Playstation 3 has been getting a ton of use from yours truly but not for gaming… no I have my Frankenstein PC for that (pets the Mass Effect 2), I use my PS3...
3GK Spotlight “Real Life Gal Fighter”
Fighting games say nothing more than testosterone driven, trash-talking, button mashing, all male action… err let’s just say guys like to play them! But what do girls think? In the modern days of gaming it would seem so taboo that a female would actually take the time to understand why guys love these games so much. From Street Fighter to Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur to Tekken, the only feminine action guys see is on the...
Evo 2010 Wrap-up
The largest fighting game tournament in Las Vegas has finally come to an end. The dust has settled and the chaos dwindled down. Games ranging from Melty Blood: Actress Again, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Tekken 6, and Super Street Fighter 4 were present this year. All of the matches featuring some high caliber players and household Evo contestants like Daigo “The Beast” Umehara, Mike Ross, Alex Valle and Justin Wong.
I can...
