While the company has hit a wall in terms of growth in their two popular fighters Tekken and Soul Calibur, the games that they do produce are normally of very high quality and fun factor. It was a little after Soul Calibur IV when it became painfully obvious that my beloved fighting game genre was in danger. The 2D monsters of yester-year were either ancient classics like Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike, or flashy distractions like Guilty Gear (do not pretend that this game series was impactful). The future seemed bleak as NAMCO, TECMO and SEGA were the only companies that had a solid grip on making a 3D Fighter work… but 3D was... 

Isn’t it about time the creators of our beloved game Street Fighter try their hand at an action RPG? For years now they have pieced a crap storyline together about the origins of the fighters and their ultimate end goal, and for what? A bunch of disjointed, mostly fan-created tales of why 30+ unique individuals decided to take each other on. For all of its flaws, stiff gameplay and hokey characters, I applaud Mortal Kombat for trying this concept...
